Regarding PT boats in US waters. I can remember at 3+ years, my Dad putting me on a PT boat at the Cincinnati Ohio Public Landing. I asked my Mother about this and she said they were making a post war tour from Pittsburg to New Orleans. Don't know what boats and don'T have any pictures.

That would be a neat thing to research, to see if there are any photos of the PTs visiting Cincinnati in the Cincinnati Enquirer photo archives (the other major papers that existed back then, primarily the Cincinnati Post-Times Star, which became the Cincinnati Post, went out of business years ago).

The only problem with that is, if I asked certain members of the staff about it, they would probably look at me like I was nuts, and say something like "World War II? Is that the war where we attacked the Japanese at Pearl Harbor?"

I'm only kidding a little bit (I've dealt with Enquirer personnel before)...

Dennis;
This trip to Ohio if they went that far up I know was performed by RON 41 boats, I know that RON 41 did travel up the Missippippi River, I read this story in the PT Boater a few years back, but I don't remember if they went off up the Ohio River to Cincinnati. Over the course of the next few days I will try to find it.
Take care,
TED

Ted'
My memory is clear about this and my Mother confirms it. She says they went from Pittsburg to New Orleans, stopping at the Cincinnat Public landing.

Ted;

I just stirre the memory of my 88 year old Mother. She fillid in some blanks.

She confirmed RON 41. She thinks they headed up river to Pittsburg and then came back down river where I boarded.

Before Dad died, he told us kids of the river trip. He said the boats shot through the locks instead of waiting to lock through. Don't kn ow weather to believe that though. Dad always had good 'stories'.

Dennis;
If you recieve ALL HANDS, the PT Boat reunion periodical, the story of the RON 41 trip to St.Louis and surrounding areas, is in VOL 59 No. 1 MAY 2005 page 31. It is titled "My tour of duty with RON 41" by ENS. Charles D. Correll Jr. USNR EXEC PT 609 RON 41.
If you don't have this issue Dennis, e-mail me and I will scan it for you.
Take care,
TED
