It's too late tonight for me to post a narrative, I'll do that tomorrow. For now, here's some photos of her at the OH/PA border tonight (1/20) around 6pm.

Jim;
Great photos!! She looks pretty good for her age and what she has been through. But most of all, she still looks PROUD!
Take care,
TED

I wanted to thank Tim from Fleet Obsolete for keeping me up to date on the location of PT 48 during her trek.

After my shift yesterday I set out for the Bellefonte area (near State College, PA - Penn State) of I-80. The plan was to intercept the truck enroute across the northern tier of PA and get video and still photos of the truck in motion. It'd be neat for me to see and the Fleet folks could get some extra video or photos for their projects.

Unfortunetly the truck was stuck at the Ohio/Pennsylvania border with a brake line problem. The repair was underway Tuesday afternoon when I left and it was hoped it would be repaired quickly so the team could get some more miles under their belt before dark.

When I arrived in Bellefonte the brake issue continued...the truck hadn't left Ohio yet. At this point I was worried about losing the light (3:30pm) so I figured I'd head west and when they got back on the road I just meet them enroute. Two and half hours later I was in Ohio! I introduced myself to the crew who was shuttling the 48 to NY, snapped a couple of photos and headed back.

It didn't work out as I planned it, but with something like trucking a PT boat up the eastern seaboard, what plan can you stick to? It was great to see and touch the old girl in person...plus I'll be able to say I saw her before she was restored to her glory by Fleet Obsolete!

A side note on the photos - I wasn't prepped for a night shoot, so I didn't have a flash rig or a tripod for longer exposure pictures. I had to turn the ASA way up - that's why the pictures have "noise" in them. I had to use a dumpster, a sign, etc. as a field-expedient tripod, so the photos aren't as crisp as I'd like...but they'll do!
