It is not my choice to use this medium in which to communicate with you but I believe that I do not have much choice.
Several years back, (before there was a hacker attack) I was on this bulletin board. You responded to me on one occasion and asked quite a few questions at that time. I responded to the best of my ability at that time and provided what I thought was a lengthy and informative RESPONSE.
YOU NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED ANYTHING THAT I SAID.
I have since learned that there are quite a few people on this board that want you to tell them what you know but have no desire to reciprocate.
You just brushed me off like so many other people on this bulletin board.
I CANNOT REPRODUCE THE EMAIL INTERCHANGE AT THAT TIME
THAT IS HOW I FEEL..

Pat,
I can appreciate where you are coming from, but some of us are 2nd generation PTr's. We grew up listening to our fathers conversation about their PT boat exploits. As for myself, I have very little information to offer.
It gives me great pleasure to here from the Heroes that lived through those tough times. Mabe it makes me feel just a closer to my Dad.
When I was a teenager I was too envolved with myself to care, but now that I am older, I realize how proud my Dad was to be there. What little I know is amplified by the stories and info I see on this board.
You PT modelers are keeping the memory alive.
These are the modern day monuments to a great time in our history.
Through tthis message board, I have had contact with 2nd generation crew that served with my Dad. This is awesome.
My respect to the PT Vets and thanks to you guys that create the models of the boats you love.

Hi Pat!
I for one would like to thank you for your service. Any time that one of you true WW2 PT Boaters is able and willing to tell us about their experiences on the Boats during WW2, I know that I feel lucky and priveledged. I think that was the main reason I got involved in the restoration of PT658, in order to hang out with our 10-15 WW2 veterans and hear their opinions and stories. Restoring the boat was originally just a side benefit for showing up. I hope you dont get too "put off" with this message board. It seems that many of us truly appreciate you guys for what you did over there for us back home. I know that for example because in reading "Earl from PT108's" messages on this board I have a better understanding for what a ships cook was faced with on the front lines aboard a PT Boat. We can't get this type of info from anywhere else, and that is why it is so valuable and rare. I hope you will be willing to continue telling your stories on this message board in the future, and if not, then I understand, but it will be a real shame! Because not many people around have been there and done what you did. So again, Thanks! And take care. I think we all hope to hear from you again.

PS here is loading one of our Mark 13 torpedoes last year, standing behind the fish on the boats deck are two of our WW2 PT Boat veterans, Dick Lowe and Beatty Lay who are overseeing the torpedo loading evolution

Pat,
I'm sorry that I didn't respond to your message. I can't recall any such message, but if you say it happened then I must apologize.
However, if you have such a nasty attitude I'm glad that you will not correspond with me. It's too bad because we were in the same squadron ar the same time and could have recalled some memories, good and bad.
Sam Reynolds would have liked to correspond with you. I'm sure you remember hiom. He was my exec. under Kato Sells and then skipper of the 160 boat.
The people on this board are such wonderful people, veterans, second and third generations, modelers, and museum exhibitioners. It's too bad that one of our group is such an asshole.
I will welcome not ever hearing from you. However, have a nice day and I will even say Thank You for being one of us who did our part.
Good Day and GOD BLESS.
Russ,, RONS 9 & 12.

I'm always sorry to hear of a squable such as this, life is too short. As a retired internet engineer let me point out something that causes trouble that people don't seem to be aware of. The internet (email and such) is a complex system. all messages are broken up into small packets of digital pulses and sent over multiple routes where they are supposed to be reassembled into the original message and attached to pictures sent by a different protocol. It is a miracle it works at all. Many messages get garbled or lost. The sender assumes if he sent it, the addressee received it. That is certainly not true. The internet folks know that this happens too much and have included an option that initiates a response to the sender that a message has indeed been delivered intact to the addressee's mailbox. If you don't use thaat feature, you never know if the email has been smashed into bits. I always give the addressee the benefit of a real doubt.

No doubt there will be problems on this message board from time to time. I have gotten into a few myself. We certainly cannot always agree with one another (this is what makes the World go round), but it is nice to know that when we do have a problem, we speak out about it, then hopefully it is forgotten, and we move on. With that said, I hope Pat and Russ get together. People do not last forever, Friendship sometimes does.

I agree with all the above statements. If it was not for this board and the people on it,i would not have learned and appreciated these times and actions, that can only be related by those who were there.
Speaking for myself,as most of you are aware,im in Australia and as such have no where but this board to find out more about my Grandfather and his life with the PT Service.
I try to interact with members on the board,by showing anything that i find that may be of interest, but many times it has probably already has been seen.So without input from Veterans, the same old stuff is just going to go around and around and thats fine but eventually there will be no more.I can understand that it is not easy to relate tales from a terrible time, however the more us new generations learn, the more those who made these sacrifices wont be forgotten and can be duly admired.
Ive made some good friends here, and i love reading the posts from you ALL.
As Frank said "Life is too Short".
So a big thankyou to everyone

All members of this board,
I don't intend to contaminate this board with a fued of any kind. Next to Boats Newberry and his family, this board is the greatest thing that could have happened for the memory of the PT veterans and friends.
My former Ron 9 mate had no reason to come back at me like he did. I was trying to unite some of our shipmatess of ron 9. I had included my e-mail address in my original message to Pat. If he wanted to chew me out he should have done it priately.
As far as I am concerned, the matter is closed with this posting. I am really hurt that it happened.
It has made me a little gun shy about posting.
I do have a the most wonderful Christmas card to post. I will post it a couple of weeks before Christmas so uou all can send it to your families and friends. I promise you that you will really like it. Buye,....... Russ

been there, done that.i will not take sides.just want to voice my thoughts.there are only a few of us left now.this board exists because we that are left can post our memories and pt boat info on it.the friends and modelers on this board depend on our input.we boaters relive what we did during the war by communicating with each other.this board is the only way we can do it. we need ALL of the pt boat vets to give their input.we may have differences, but, hey, we also had them when we were aboard ship.since we lived together and fought together we resolved our differences.we had N O CHOICE.we had to in order to do our jobs.we were family.then.WE STILLL ARE. RUSS/PAT, we value your input and,.regardless of any differences, we NEED YOU two guys.i don,t usually respond to any problems but this is important to me.if i am out of live, THEN CHEW ME OUT.ON HERE OR ANY WAY AVAILABLE.you are my friends and shipmates and i ask that you both continue to give us your valued information of your service.as i said, WE NEED YOU BOTH. i don,t want to lose what few shipmates i have left./sorry if i stepped out of line.may you both enjoy the holidays and stay with us.you guys are family to me.
hopefully,your friend and shipmate, earl
p/s looking forward to the christmas card
