Sir,
I noticed that the 242 served with Ron 16 and Ron 19.
My Dad was one of the Radiomen on PT221.
Were you with the 242 when it was assigned to Ron 16.

Sincerely,

Mike Crawford

Mike:
I joined the crew of 242 in Oct. 1943 when Ron 19 began it's first patrols out of Vella La Vella. In May 15, 1944 Ron 19 was decommissioned and the boats assigned to Ron 20 and Ron 23. 242 was placed in Ron23. We were in Ron 23 until Dec. 1944 when our crew was relieved of duty at Green Island. We were sent back to the States for 30 days leave and R and R at the Fargo Bldg. The new crew took 242 to the Philippines. Sometime later while in the Philippines 242 was assigned from Ron 23 to Ron 16. I was not aboard when the boat was in the Philippines or Borneo. I spent all my time in the Solomons and later at Base 17 in the Philippines.
