Pat. I was a replacement onn pt 162 . I came aboard in October, at Kolombangaro (or however you spell it) a couple of weeks before we went to Sterling Island in the Treasury group.
I used to phone Hank Covington every weekend until about four or five momnths ago. The last that I contacted him, hje\\e was in a vet hospital in Biloxi Mississippi.
I haen't heard from hjim since, and they wouldn't give any information about him. I'm sure you remember Hank. He was wounded when Todd was killed.
Also, I communicate with my former exec.,Sam Reynolds, who lives in Alabama.
I don't remember you,but I'd like to hear from you.

My e-mail address is.....rpullano@stny.rr.com

Russ,

This is a picture of the crew from PT-154 on the way to Treasury/Sterling in October 1943. It is possible you were on one of the boats in the background. As Pat Rogers or Bill Nicholson took the picture they are not visible.

This picture is from Pat Roger's Collection. I am the son of Hamlin Smith.

Nat and all,

Interesting to see the lines of the planking in the foredeck of the 154...

Thanks for responding, Nat.

That is a beautiful, clear picture. Someone must have had a good camers, or did some fancy touch up.

I don't remember your Dad. Since I wasn't one of the original crew, I didn't have much time to get acquainted with many of the other mates.
However, I was quite familiar with most of the 160 crew because the QM on the 160 boat and the 1QM on the 57 boat, and I, came aboard from QM school at the same time.
I recall a member named Smith, but he was not a skipper of any boat.

I hope Pat Rogers contacts me. He may want to correspond with Sam Reynolds or visa versa.

Russ

Nat,
Do you have other photos of this boat? It looks like an interesting subject piece. I'm starting to think ahead to a future 103 class release from Italeri.

Those pictures are great. It's interesting to watch the boat go through its changes. You can almost piece the sequence together. I love how the .50 cal on the bow moves aft as the 37mm appears. Then the air duct on the chart house. One shot with tubes and the rest with roll off's. The 20mm on the forward turret with the .50's remaining in the rear port turret.

Nat, Any idea about the .20mm on the aft deck? I can't pick anything out except an odd antenna sticking up back there.

Great stuff. I'm definately saving all this for future reference. Thank you!

Nat, might I suggest you post all your pictures to the PT Boats photobucket site, in a separate folder. Then all can readily view at any time without having to dig back through the message board. Just a thought.

Great shots, Ed

Ed,

I will give it a try. Thanks. It is a big leap for me in technology (but a small step for the rest of you).
