Here's the first ever Muster Roll of RON One dated 24 Jul 1940. Only two pages.

Sir: Was your father in Ron one on or shortly after the commissioning? If so, which boat and do you have any photos from that time (early Ron one)? 26 crewmembers present would seem to indicate about three boats and I am not sure if PT 4 was present. Can you shed any light on this? The names and ranks are rather hard to read as I cannot expand the view of the first day list but it looks as though there are seven men for PT 9. Thank you

My cousin ( not father) was on PT 3 and PT 6 (2) briefly. His name does not appear in the RON one muster rolls until 17 Nov 1940 when he was promoted to QM1c. He reported on board PT 30 on 19 Aug 1941 as CQM. Ron One was sent to Pearl Harbor shortly thereafter.

The first nine PTs were all experimental and were short lived. They were either reclassified or shipped to other countries. The book "At Close Quarters" details these boats accurately.

The RON One rolls are extremely hard to read. I'll be glad to do a lookup. I can go back to the source and maybe get a better read than the printout. I also have the Report of Changes for the quarter ending 31 Jul 1940. Of course, the same names are there.

I have photos of PT 3, PT 6 and PT 30.

I neglected to mention that November of 1940 was about the time that PT 3 was reengined with 4M 2500 and the 3M 2500s removed.

Nice photograph. Thank you for posting it. Please allow me to rephrase the question. Have you any photos of PT 3 taken by your cousin or his crewmates at the time of his service in Ron One? Thank you

Sorry I mis-understood you. That photo of PT 3 was taken during sea trails and was used in several books . No, my cousin did not take any photos of PT 3 that we know of.
