I am having a problem just starting this boat. The plans call for three pieces for the chimes and I can only find the bow piece. Does anyone out there who has worked on this model have an answer for me.

Hi Paul,
Check your sprue drawings at the front of the instructions. On the port side you will use 1C, 4C, followed by 2C. On the starboard side you will use 44C, 42C, and 41C. They are all located next to each other. Note that the assembly drawing is out of proportion to the actual pieces.

David Thanks for your reply but part 42 & 41 & 4 & 2C are actually the for bow of the boat on the deck Page 5 of the instructions. They apparently did not make the middle and forward chimes. Unless in my old age I am getting blind.

Hi Paul. Those parts are for the chine and not the deck. They fit into the groove running bow to stern. The drawing on page 2 shows a view from the bottom and not the top of the boat.
From the bow parts 1C on the port side and 44C on the starboard side.
Next after those two parts you have 4C on the port side and 42C on the starboard side
The final piece is 2C on the port side and 41C on the starboard.
Note that the drawing isn't a very good representation of the sizes of these pieces.

David: Again thanks for your help. But the pieces 42C & 41C And 4C and 2C fir perfectly on the deck on the bow as shown on page 5. With those where they belong I do have 4C & 2C & 41C & 42C chime rails. They are using the same numbers for two items and mine seem to fit on the deck? Any answers??

Hi Paul,
You may be able to get some Evergreen plastic and lay it in yourself. You'll have to do some shaping and filling but it's not that complex.

Paul;
Ditto what Dave said, or you can use Balsa wood strips.
Take care,

Thanks for your help. I am surprised at the mistake that Italeri made in the mold making. I will try the Balsa as I think I can work with that better. I am not sure I have the ability but will definitely try.
Again thanks for your help.

If you go with wood try and find basswood. It has a much finer grain and is harder.
Good luck!
