[StartQuote] Nice work Al, as always . . . . Looooking gooood! As I was looking at the drawings, then comparing it to the photo image Frankie uploaded, as regards to color scheme. I notice that boat PT 129 in the photo was painted differently than I had noticed before on other photos of early 80-foot Elco boats. If you look at the front of the 129 boat, the upper deck 5D color extends down from the deck and onto the rub strip and gunwale. It finishes with a curved down painted area to the front edge of the bow. Below I’ve posted several early Elco boat images, that surely stole from around the internet over all these years. Out of all the images of the 103, 117 and the 129, only the 129 shows this paint variant. INTERESTING . . . Also, I noticed on the drawing of the early Elco 77-foot boat (your dad’s PT 34) it missing the Lewis guns. I only say this because there was a discussion a few posts back, about the Lewis guns, and you reminisce about your dad having used them on the 34 boat. I also thought, maybe they are missing because this was a later configuration, but the Turret Domes were still attached. Also hat wouldn’t be so, because the 34 had a very short life, unlike your dad who by Gods good grace lived through the Bataan March and the POW camps of the Philippines.
