[StartQuote] I for one would like to see any definitive photos of this mount on the 174 boat. I also read once, that it was supposedly a Thunderbolt mount? Again, no photos. Also, she supposedly was converted to late war armament at the end of her career, ie 20mm and 37mm on the bow and 40mm on the fantail. No photos to support this either. We do know, the 174 had a 40mm on the bow with a strange shield installed by ELCO with the 20mm on the stern, stateside, plenty of photos of this. Then in the Pacific, she had a 40mm, (possibly Australian Army) with a cut down shield, and a 20mm on the stern, photos and a short news reel of this! One thing for sure, you can never get board researching PT Boats! [EndQuote]
