[StartQuote] Don worked in the hull department while at the Elco Naval Division, but it was not long before they found out he had a wonderful talent for building scale models. A craftsmen at heart, Don began building several scale models of the boats and even some of the weapons systems. In these photos you will see this wonderfully crafted model of the Elco Thunderbolt system which was made mostly from a light-weight metal material. The ID card from Rosencrantz was donated to my PT BOAT EXHIBIT by his daughter. The other photo shows the model of PT-41 built by Rosencrantz and being held by none other than Lt. John D. Bulkeley with his father Frederick looking on. Rosencrantz is in the crowd of Elco workers close to the stage with the pipe in his mouth.
