[StartQuote] Dear Sir: The information I have on file for your grandfather says he served as a Gunners Mate first class with Squadron 27 & 15. He was on a couple of bases as well including Base 12 & 17. He served on PT 374 with squadron 27 and PT 207 with Squadron 15. He did not attend MTBSTC but was assigned in 1943 to Squadron 15 and boat 207. He operated in places like Bizerte, North Africa. Operated from Corsica and Sardinia. He participated in the invasion of Elba and Sothern France. He made his way to Squadron 27, boat 374 in the Philippines. He paticiapated in the invasion of Borneo, and also helped in Samar to take apart the boats before burning them. He was discharged in Boston on February 19, 1946. By the way, he took his Bootcamp and Gunnery School at Newport, Rhode Island and enlisted in the Navy on March 25, 1943. Seems he was Re-activated in the US NAVY in September 1950 and was assigned to APD 133. he then was discharged for good in 1952. Hope this helps you in your thrist for information. As Will mentioned, he can send you a copy of the information if needed. [EndQuote]
