[StartQuote] Welcome aboard Kristen!!!! I must say, the Edward Steichen;s photo of your father was one that inspired several generations of young men to join the Underwater Demolition Teams and later the SEAL Teams. Sergei K Aalto was a Painter 2/C, who was originally a Seabee based at either Camp Peary(Williamsburg Va) or Camp Bradford(Now Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Storey, Virginia Beach, Va). When they asked for volunteers, he rogered up and went to NCDU/UDT training. He was a plankowner of Underwater Demolition Team 4, and as far as I know, he stayed with UDT 4 for the entire war. I researched his background several years ago, but after he left the Navy, all the info the UDT/SEAL Museum had on him was that he moved to Mexico sometime in the late 60's or early 70's, and they lost touch with him. For info on what your Dad did with UDT 4: http://www.viewoftherockies.com/UDT4.html Check these websites for photos http://navysealmuseum.pastperfectonline.com/bysearchterm?keyword=UDT+4&page=3 http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=653499 Also google SWEDE UDT 4 and several photos will come up of him and his UDT 4 Buddies. I also suggest you contact: Ruth McSween Curator Navy SEAL Museum 3300 N. HWY A1A Fort Pierce, FL 34949 (772) 595-5845 Ext. 202 www.NavySEALmuseum.org Take care, TED [EndQuote]
