[StartQuote] Will; You are correct, it was very dangerous out there. The night Tom Kendall fired on Portland, she was off Sing Song Island. Another one you won't read anywhere else is that on the night of Jan 1-2 1943, Les Gamble and Sid Rabekoff in PT 45 fired two torpedoes by accident at the New Zealand Corvette Kiwi(AKA: SMOKEY JOE), which they mistook for a Japanese ship, again, fortunatly the two torpedoes missed. After this incident Les Gamble and Kiwi's Skipper, Lt. Cmdr. Gordon Britson RNZNVR , became life long friends. Take care, TED [EndQuote]
