[StartQuote] This discussion makes me wonder if someone or some agency hasn't already pinpointed these bases on maps. It seems that the Navy Dept. must have information about their exact locations. If anyone out there knows where this information might be stored and/or how to obtain it, it would be grand. My wandering mind even suggests that some travel agent might want to put together a tour of some of the better known bases, such as Biak, Morotai, and that big bay in southeast New Guinea (can't recall the name right now.) Has anyone explored that idea or knows anyone who has made such a trip. I have a picture my dad took of a base and the note on the back mentions it was taken from University Mountain. Anyone know where that is? Another picture shows a small volcanic cone shaped island off the bow of the boat with the bow gun in the picture. Where might that be? Just some meandering thoughts on a rainy, windy day in the Northwest. Marty Marty Johnson 2nd Generation PT 168 RON 10 In Memory of LT(JG) Martin A. Johnson[EndQuote]
