[StartQuote] Hey Frank, The guys at Save the PT Boat (PT658) just finished restoration on a 1944 Ford GPW. The Jeep belonged to Al McCready, one of our founding members, and was donated by his estate to our group. Bob Alton lovingly restored it, with the help of several other crewmembers. The Jeep had been modified and sports a 6 cylinder Chrysler engine. We tried to get it back to reasonable restored appearance, but it had been so highly modified we had to take what we got and make it work. He researched it and painted it a Navy Grey. Here is what she looked like on Veterans Day during a parade where we took the Jeep up to an Elementary School during an Open House. Those are about ten 5 year old Kindergardeners in the Jeep. We were towing a Mark 13 Torpedo on a trailer behind the Jeep. I was elected to drive it that day. It was very cold! Here is also another photo I found of a Grey painted USN Jeep. I hope this is of some help.
