[StartQuote] Hi Frank: Yea, I knew about Marney and was considering adding him to the book. Marney lived on Carew Street, and I grew up on Hungry Hill. If I can link Carey and Marney I can include him. I have conducted a limited research on him - and can share what I have with you. There were several men rom Springfiled who played roles in significant "historical" events. Michael Arooth was a highly decorated areial gunner and another soldier (I believe Lt. Murphy) was involved in the raid on the Japanese POW camp at Cabanatuan which the book "Ghost Soldiers: The Forgotten Epic Story of World War II's Most Dramatic Mission. His squad fired the first shots during the raid. My brother lives in Feeding Hills. If possible, would like to see your collection. If you are willing you can PM me at cpm163@yahoo.com. Cheers, Chris [EndQuote]
