[StartQuote] WE WERE SERVING CHOW AT THE TIME IT WAS ANNOUNCED OVER THE SPEAKER SYSTEM THAT AN ATOMIC BOMB HAD BEEN DROPPED .PRIOR TO THAT ANNOUNCEMENT WE WERE ALL TALKING,LAUGHING AND THE GENERAL STUFF.WHEN WE HEARD THE ANNOUNCEMENT YOU COULD HEAR A PIN DROP.THERE WAS STUNNED SILENCE.NO CHEERS.NO HORRAHS.NO CONVERSATION.IT WAS EERIE.EVERYONE HAD THEIR OWN THOUGHTS.MOSTLY OF IT WAS GOING TO BE OVER"AND HOME.WE GOT OUR CHOW AND WENT TO SIT DOWN AND EAT.STILL NO TALKING.ALL OF A SUIDDEN YOU COULD HEAR VOICES TALKING,LAUGHING AND YELLING.IT FINNALLY SET IN ON ON WHAT IT MEANT.THERE WAS A LOT OF SLAPPING BACKS AND JUMPING AROUND FOR A FEW MINUTES. THEN IT STARTED TO GET QUIET AGAIN AND WE ALL WENT BACK TO OUR TENTS/BOATS.THERE WAS A QUIETNESS OVER THE WHOLE AREA FOR THE REST OF THE DAY .SO MANY HOUGHTS. earl richmond[EndQuote]
